Common ratings include 3 kVA, 5 kVA, 10 kVA, 25 kVA, 50 kVA, and higher. The required rating depends on the total connected load. Primary Voltage This is the input voltage. Common primary voltages include 380 volts, 400 volts, 415 volts, or 480 volts alternating current depending on the regional supply standard. Secondary Voltage This is the output voltage, which may match the primary voltage for isolation purposes or be different if voltage conversion is required. For example, input 415 volts and output 208 volts. Frequency The transformer is typically designed for 50 hertz or 60 hertz operation. Many are compatible with both. Insulation Class Indicates the thermal tolerance of the winding insulation. Class B is rated for 130 degrees Celsius, Class F for 155 degrees, and Class H for 180 degrees.
